Hey all! Thought I would just do an update post. This shiny new toy arrived the other day, the Numark Orbit. It’s a wireless DJ midi controller designed to give you more freedom and movement while you DJ. Numark are trying to stop DJs from hiding behind a laptop and get them to perform to the audience.
Pioneer are bringing out a very interesting product into the market. It’s the DDJ-SB. It’s a basic DJ midi controller with all the functions you would expect from something like the Numark Mixtrack Pro. Now the controller itself isn’t especially exciting, it’s a two channel controller and runs DJ Serato Intro. What is very interesting is the price. You can now buy a new PIONEER DJ setup for less than £200!
The BPM show is now only a few days away! Check out my video from last year to see what its all about!
Having a well designed, easy to use, and good looking website can make a huge difference to how people view your company, likewise a website that looks like it has been designed by a 5 year old in 1998 isn’t going to help you project a ‘Professional’ image onto potential clients!
However, building a good website isn’t the easiest thing to do, especially if you are not used to using programs like Fireworks and Dreamweaver and coding HTML, Flash and Java. However luckily for you there is a very good alternative – Adobe Muse.
This is something I have seen a number of DJs do and I think its a very bad way to go about our work. We all need to advertise, its how we get more bookings and make money. Though I think there is a time and a place for it. I choose not to show any advertising material at events. I will have business cards which I can give out upon request but apart from that I have nothing on show.
How old should you be to sell yourself as a Mobile DJ? I think you can be a Mobile DJ at any age for family and friends but I think there is an age limit to sell your services to everyone. Let me know your thoughts in the poll below.
